Legal Question in Consumer Law in Oregon

What do I do after the BBB closes a case?

In Nov. 2006, I ordered and paid for a ring from an online company based in Lake Oswego OR, and it was never delivered. I have made repeated attempts to contact them, and even filed a complaint with the BBB. The BBB closed the case due to the company's lack of response. Where do I go from here? How and where do I hire a lawyer from, and will I be able to make sure that the offending company will ultimately be responsible for paying the lawyer's fees?

By the way, I currently live in Syracuse NY.

You can file a coplaint with the OR attorney general's office. You can also sue in small claims in NY, if that is where you were when you bought the ring. You will need all of your correspondence and receipts. The NY decision will have to be enforced in OR to have a chance to ever collect on it. So you might want to look online into doing the small claims action yourself and then turning the claim over to a collection company in OR to try to collect it; they will want a percentage but at least you will get some satisfaction and hopefully make trouble for them. You can also have an attorney write them a letter, which might get them to pay you back. Such a letter shouldn't cost much.
