Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Oregon

Debt Collection Options

I own a Lumber business. I'm being stiffed by a company in another state (Oregon) for several thousands of dollars. What are my options as far as collecting the money owed to my company?

I've written several letters demanding payment which have gone unanswered, until yesterday. I received a fax from this company stating that I "should cut my losses and move on, that's what they intend to do." Because I'm a much smaller business than them, I'm afraid that their legal resourses are greater than mine. If I file a Small Claims suit against them, I'll have to take a serious loss due to the fact that they owe me more than the $5,000 limit.

Please help!!

Re: Debt Collection Options

Even if you filed a small claim, you would still have to appear here unless the debtor defaulted.

I have assisted out-of-state creditors several times over the years. Based on my experience in this area, I am usually able to offer services on a flat rate, per task basis. Of course, I would need to know more about your particular case to make a proper assessment.

Feel free to telephone me at (503) 241-5550 or e-mail me privately to the address below. I look forward to hearing from you.
