Legal Question in Criminal Law in Oregon
Never charged now Fugitive ?
My house was raided by the police in June of 2002 they said they were looking for a meth lab they never showed us a warrant and torn our home apart we coroparated and they left with out charging us with any crime . we spoke to lawyers who told us to wait till something happened before hiring a lawyer they said it was a unlawful search and because we hadn't given or taken any money even thou drug were in our pocession we would more than likely never hear anymore about it but because of the damage to our house we were told to leave and so we did now 4 months later my husband was going to the store and got pulled over for speeding he was arrested and told he had 2 out of state warrants that had been issued in sept from Oregon one was for DCS and the other was for PCS. at his arrainment his bail was set at $500,00.00 and I called the warrants line for the same county and I also have two warrants so what do I do ? the only lawyers I have spoken with want $17,000 I have limited funds

Re: Never charged now Fugitive ?
It seems clear that the services of attorney should have been retained at the first sign of a problem.
If you have been charged in a differnet state other than Indiana, then you should retain a lawyer in the state where charged. You may want to search the internet or contact that states attorney referral service. If you cannot afford one, then you may wish to consider surrender yourself and ask the court to appoint a public defender to your case. However, before you do so, try to speak with a lawyer in the state where charges against you are pending.
If you believe you may also have legal issues in Indiana, then retain a lawyer in this state who may then help coordinate with the attorney in the other.
