Legal Question in Criminal Law in Oregon

my husband recently got pulled over because another driver on the freeway called him in for driving over the white line trying to avoid an accident. the caller only had a description of the car and the state police pulled him over about an hour later down the freeway. he was charged with reckless driving and the only reason he didn't get arrested and his car impounded was because I was in the hospital having a baby -an emergency induction/c-section because of preeclampsia. a court date was set. do we need a lawyer? what are the chances of this being dismissed?

Reckless driving is a misdemeanor and a conviction could lead to a maximum of a year in jail, along with a fine of $6,250. Chances are your husband would not get the maximum jail/fine, but it is important that he have an attorney on his side. It's impossible to say what the chance of dismissal is without knowing all of the facts and reviewing the police report. Your husband should contact an attorney as soon as possible for at least a consultation.
