Legal Question in Criminal Law in Oregon

I believe i was scammed out of 200 dollars

I bought a puppy from this lady from the website. i gave her 200 as a deposit as stated in her email. i was to send the rest march 9th by western union. i tried to do so, but i have a w/d limit of 500 so i could not send it. i told the lady this and asked for another way to pay. she told me she only takes western union.she said no and that if she didnt recieve payment then she would relist the puppy in the moring and keep my 200. i asked her to return my money and she said no it was nonrefundable. she siad that it stated on her website this (which i never even seen her website until today) which was updated today. she could have put it on there today. anyway, i ve been emailing her to get my money and she told me that if she hers from me again or fiinds me laible her then she will fill for crimanl charges and stuff like that. i found her ad were i contacted her and she only wanted 950 for the puppy when i bought her now she wants 1200. so now she is wanting more and she is keeping my 200. what can i do? this puppy was for me and my daughters birthday and she is very upset. i want to buy her another one, but need the 200.i have all emails and ads from her also. please contact me at [email protected]. thank you, amy

If the deposit was nonrefundable, and you did not get her the rest of the money by the deadline, it appears that the seller is justified in their actions. If you did not, you should have requested the terms of the deposit when made. While I understand that your withdrawal limit may have hindered your efforts, that cannot be used against the seller. However, if you still feel that you have been scammed and the seller has broken the law, you should contact the attorney general. They should have a consumer fraud division that may be able to assist you.

You should contact the consumer protection division of the attorney general's office in your state.

In Mississippi, go to:
