Legal Question in Family Law in Oregon

Agreement Status from CA to OR

My ex-husband and I are considering moving to Oregon from California. We have a legal agreement regarding our two children. What happens to that agreement if we move to Oregon? Is it still in effect, do we need to get another one in Oregon?

Thank you,

Re: Agreement Status from CA to OR

If both you and your ex move to Oregon, Oregon will then become (after six monnths) the "home state" of the children. You then cause your California custody judgment (probably contained within the terms of the divorce decree) to be filed (registered) with the circuit court of the Oregon county in which you will be residing, pursuant to the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA). Once registered here in Oregon, the California custody judgment will then be enforceable, and modifiable, to the same extent as if it were an custody judgment originally rendered by an Oregon court.
