Legal Question in Family Law in Oregon

''back support''

My exhusband was mandated to pay me child support. Once our child reached school age, he threatened to take me back to court if I didn't vountarily reduce the amount. I verbally agreed to accept a substantially less amount just to keep the peace. I also did it so as an insurance policy. I figured I would pursue back support if he gained custody and wasn't as reasonable as I had been about the support. He is now trying to gain custody and is planning to garnish as much as he can from me. The original order was never modified. Since I only verbally agreed to the arrangement, he is still liable for the back support?
