Legal Question in Family Law in Oregon

Child custody

I was with my daughters father until my daughter was 2. I left him because of abuse and neglect. I tried to give him a chance to be a father but he refused to do what was needed. He is a HEAVY pot smoker and I know will never quit. That bothers me, ALOT. He moved to seattle about a year ago and has made threats to take my daughter. I am not in a relationship with a female. WE take great care of my daughter, she is loved and taken care of better then EVER before. I cant see someone giving this man custody but then again, Ive seen some pretty crazy things. I would never ever be okay in life without my little girl. I have some health issues and am a stay at home mom to her and my son. I am afraid he is going to use whatever he can against me to try and get her from me. any advice? any help?

Thanks so much!

Re: Child custody

You should go to the State of Oregon web page. There are a variety of forms that can help you establish custody and child support without an attorney if you cannot afford one. You should do this as soon as you can so it would be kidnapping if he took her out of the state.

You may also want to call the Oregon State Bar and ask for modest means attorneys in your area or go through the self help desk at your local court house.

You can do this. Be proactive and establish support.
