Re: child
You do not have to do anything. You remain the child's custodial parent. Letting your child stay with your borth in Colorado is not a "change of custody" nor a relinquishment of your parental rights and authority. It is reakkt no different than letting your child stay overnight at a friend's house, or go "live" at summer camp for a couple of weeks, or go on a vacation trip with another family. It's just for a little longer duration of time.
But you ought to provide your brother with a power-of-attorney form known as a "Temporary Delegation of Parental Authority" so that your brother has something in written form that shows he has your permission to have your child staying with him and, also, to enable your brother to have authority to consent to medical treatment should such need arise while the child is in Colorado, and also for school enrollment purposes.
