Legal Question in Family Law in Oregon
CHILD SUPPORT and SSI
I am divorcing my husband - He is retirement age, but still runs our company. He receives SSI. Our 2 minor children also receive SSI through him. When we divorce, the checks will come to me for them. I am not asking for spousal support. My question is; Am I entitled to ask for more child support money than SSI pays?
Thank you.

PS: SSI (Supplemental Security Income) is a federal welfare (poverty) program for qualifying low-income or no-income persons who have certain disabilities.
SSI is different from Social Security, which is a federal administrater retirement and disability insurance program into which the participants make contributions, generally by payroll deduction.
So I am confused. If your husband is running a company, just how is it that he qualifies for SSI? Perhaps what he (and the kids) are now getting is actually Social Security DISABILITY benefit (rather than "SSI")?
