Legal Question in Family Law in Oregon

Child out of wedlock

Hi. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. Several years ago (about 4 or 5) I started dating this woman. The relationship only lasted about 8 months. She ended it when she moved. Just before she moved she became pregnant by me. I just found out that she had her baby. I would like to be a part of the babys life. Do I have any options?

Find out what state she lives in and then file a petition to establish legal paternity. After you have been judicially declared as the child's legal father, you may then file a petition to establish visitation rights (or, possibly, seek custody).
