Legal Question in Family Law in Oregon

Children as beneficiaries in the event of death

When my new husband and his ex-wife divorced several years ago, they included in the divorce agreement a clause which states that the husband and the wife must maintain life insurance and name the child as the beneficiary. Does that mean that I (his wife) cannot be named as beneficiary on my husbands life insurance policy?

Thanks.

Re: Children as beneficiaries in the event of death

The decree should state an amount of life insurance for which the ex-wife is the beneficiary. You would be able to be the beneficiary for any excess of the required amount. Your husband should consult an attorney.
