Legal Question in Family Law in Oregon
common law
13 years ago I did live with a woman for about 12 years. I have since moved on with my life, bought a home, furniture, a couple cars and so on. This woman now comes out of the blue saying she has legal rights to take my house, furniture and cars because we lived together for 12 years. I bought these things about 4 years ago, therefore it was not during the time I lived with her. What legal rights does she have to force me out of my home and to take what she thinks is hers because we lived together 13 years ago?
Another question, can she contest a will?

Based on the facts presented, she has no legal basis on which to make a claim.

ANSWER:
Yes. Anybody can contest a will. Of course, if it is YOUR will that she is contesting (which could not happen until after you have died), she probably would lose the case.
