I had a friend say that if the father/mother was a felon they lose all rights towards there child, is that true? or does it depend on what they did? like for example, my sons father is in jail for stealing cars, and has been in jail for almost two yrs.

ANSWER:
No, that is not true.
QUESTION #2:
Or does it depend on what they did?
ANSWER:
Yes, it depends on what they did. And, in particular, whether the child was the victim of the crime.
