Legal Question in Family Law in Oregon

diovorce decree

I was married in Co. and divorced 10 yrs later; have been paying alimony for almost 10 yrs now; plus my decree legally binds my life insurance to her in the event of my death. She was an Rn and me an RT in medical at the time we were divorced/ about same pay. Her two children 8 and12 when we married; I adopted the boy; the girl(older) did not want to be adopeted. I provided heath care for both until 18 yrs of age. I am still paying 300/mo. for alimony and want to get out of it; as I have ''payed'' more than my fair share of the dues for almost 10yrs post divorce. My wages are currently garnished each bi weekly payday. Everyone says I'm nuts for paying this long. What did you suggest I do and will I have a good case in the courts. Ps She got our new home in the deal; I kept my small retirement. But again I have been paying for 10 yrs now.. carlos

Re: diovorce decree

Much depends on the law of the state that rendered your divorce decree. You did not mention which state that was. And without that information, I am in no position to offer any advice.
