Legal Question in Family Law in Oregon

Divorce lawyer

I have filed a divorce. I have a lawyer I hired. We have finished everything but drawing up the papers and signing. We have been to court, agreed upon the terms, and everything. My problem is I had an outstanding debt with my lawyer ($400) and have caught it up but now my lawyer is not answering my calls and not responding to my emails. Is it worth it to fire him and rehire someone else (just to sign the papers)? If not, is there something I can do to get him to do his job?

As Tonto said to the Lone Ranger:

"Ummm.... Kemosabe not wise to change horses in middle of stream."

Pay-off lawyer and get papers signed without changing horses, er, ah, lawyers, that is. Otherwise, you're gonna get your feet wet and may likely sink way down into the mud. No need for that to happen.
