Legal Question in Family Law in Oregon
Divorce/Custody
6 months ago my husband went to CA to work. During that time he called frequently, however sent only a total of 100.00 to help with the family. For the last 2 months I have received only 2 messages, 1 stating he had moved--he left no return contact #, and no new address. The second message received was that he was trying to get in touch with me. He sends no support for his child. He seems to have abandoned us. How can I get a divorce if I don't know where he is? What are his rights regarding our child?

Re: Divorce/Custody
You can file for and get a divorce without knowing where your Husband is, but you will need to try to serve him with papers. The state of Oregon has a great web site that provides you forms to file for divorce and establish support. If you are unable to find and serve him, you can tell the judge what you have tried and there are other ways of serving him -- ie. through his family, mail and publication with the court approval. Good luck.
