emancipction

can you emancipate an 18 year old child who is attending college and not be financially responsible for them?

Re: emancipction

Oregon's "post-18 child support law," ORS 107.108, specifically provides for parental obligatios for payment of suuport to and for a "child attending school" (as that phrase is defined in the statute), without regard to "emancipation."

Also, by opertion of law, a person in Oregon upon attaining age 18 (and thereby becoming "of legal age") is AUTOMATICALLY deemed as emancipated. In Oregon, the concept of "emancipation" applies only to minors (i.e., persons under age 18), NOT to adults who are age 18 or older.
