Legal Question in Family Law in Oregon

My ex-girlfriend had a baby while we were dating I thought it was mine so I signed the birth certificate. Now we are not together and she has told me the baby is not mine but I am still having to pay child support because my name is on the birth certificate. I do not see the child and would like to have my name taken off the birth certificate but I believe I have to get a paternity test to do so. What should the steps be so that I can get my name off the birth certificate and stop paying child support?

What you signed that resulted in your name being listed as :"father" on the child's birth certificate was a Voluntary Acknowlegement of Paternity form. If the basis for your having signed the VAP was "fraud, duress or material mistake of fact," you can commence a legal proceeding "challenging" the validity and legal significance of the VAP. To get this done -- abnd done right -- you will need a good lawyer. Having a paternity test ahead of time would be good too, but not necessary (as a court order compelling such tests can be obtained while the case it pending).

A good lawyer for this purpose? me.
