Legal Question in Family Law in Oregon

Existing parenting plan in WA, moved to Oregon where father of children lives.

I previously lived in Washington State where a parenting plan was established for my two boys. their father resided in Oregon State. I have full custody ang he has visitations. Jan of 2008 I moved with the boys to Oregon so for they would be closer to their father and it was better job opportunity for myself. Father was provided with a non formal/legal paper of my new address and phone number as well as the name of the school and its' location the children are attending. Father visits with boys here in Oregon now when basically it is convenient for both of us, not really are we using the parenting plan. I was wanting to find out what I need to do to either move the existing order over from WA to Oregon or do I need to file a new petition with Oregon and start from ground zero to get a new one established for Oregon for this is where we ALL live now? Not sure what to do. thank you.

Re: Existing parenting plan in WA, moved to Oregon where father of children lives.

You "register" the WA court judgment (and parenting plan) in OR pursuant to the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA). It then becomes enforceable as if it were originally rendered by an Oregon court. Then you and the other parent prepare and sign a Stipulated Modification of Parenting Plan and cause it to be filed with the court. Optionally, if you both agree, you could set it up in the form of court order so that it includes a provision that says "The court hereby approves and ratifies the foregoing agreement of the parties and both parties are hereby ordered to comply with the terms of their own agreement." (Or words to that effect.)
