As a Father

As a father what rights do I have to my children after 12 and half years of not knowing where they were or having any contact with them until now?

Re: As a Father

In Colorado, you can petition the Court to establish parenting time for you with the children. The Court has the task of making a decision that is in the best interests of the children. Before submitting your petition to the Court, you should discuss your situation with an attorney. Please feel free to call or email to discuss this in more depth.

Re: As a Father

You have the right to ask the court to order the other parent to make the children accessible to you for "parenting time" purposes. The extent of parenting time, if any, that the court would order is unpredictible, as it depends on what the judge concludes to be in the best interests of the children.
