Legal Question in Family Law in Oregon
late/no payment of divorce settlement
Divorce paper's were signed and filed with the court. A settlement amount and the date that the settlement was to be given to me have come and gone.
What legal action can be taken to ensure my settlement is given to me in a timely manner?

YOUR POST:

What legal action can be taken to ensure my settlement is given to me in a timely manner?
ANSWER:
Garnishment; foreclosure of judgment lien; execution and levy on property, etc. Judgment remedies are set forth in ORS chapter 18. Remedies for enforcement of spousal support and child support are set forth in ORS chapter 25. When I say "remedies," I am referring to the legal actions that can be taken to ensure your settlement in a timely manner. Keep in mind that it is YOUR responsibility to protect your own legal rights. The judge does not do this automatically. It is up to the take the appropriate legal action.
Often, the best (if not the only) way to ensure that your legal rights are protected is to employ the services of a lawyer. Much like saying the best, and sometimes only, way to fix a plumbing problem in my house is for me to employ the services of a plumber. Yes, it will cost money. Sometimes money I don't have. But there is really nothing else I can do since plumbers seem reluctant to work without being paid.
