Legal Question in Family Law in Oregon
A lawyer who dosent pay child support.
My dad is a lawyer that i am pretty sure lives in Oregon. I recently turned 15 and decided that i wanted to see if i could get child suppot from him. We dd some searching and i called him and he said that he would never give me a dime. So now i am wondering wuld it be possile to sue him for child support? One of my mom's lawyer friends said that he will hafta pay or risk loosing his lawyers license. I also heard that it might be possible to get back child support. Is that possible? Thanks for your help.

I would first talk to a lawyer in Texas. There are questions which you should discuss with a lawyer in his office. I am in Bedford, not so far from Justin.

You explain that your father has not paid child support and refuses to pay a dime. What is not apparent is the relationship your parents had. Were they married? If not did your mother file a paternity suit? If they were divorced, does the divorce decree order child support? I agree with Basil that you do need to talk with a Texas lawyer first. Also be advised that you have no "standing" to bring suit against your father for child support - but your mother does. You may call me if you wish to discuss the details at 817 261-2671. Good luck.

You should call an Oregon lawyer osbar.org or you can ask the Oregon Department of Justice Child Support Enforcement Division to help you get child support including back child support. Try this website:
