Legal Question in Family Law in Oregon

Marriage license question

I got my marriage license in washington back in 2004. got my marriage certificate in Oregon, as I got married in Oregon. Am trying to get a divorce, but heard that my marriage wasn't legal anyway. Am confused about whether or not I am legally married. Do I need to get a divorce? Or am I not even legally married?

Re: Marriage license question

The validity of the marriage is, under the circumstances you describe, legally questionable.

HOWEVER, just to be on the safe side, get a divorce. It will clear the record and eliminate any doubt. If you do not get a divorce, and then you get married to somebody else, the validify of the subsequent marriage may very well be drawn into question. So get a divorce from Spouse #1 and the rest is clear sailing.
