Legal Question in Family Law in Oregon

The right to move out of state

I have physical custody of my 2 kids, age 14 & 15.Had custody for 14 years here in Oregon.Their dad does get visitaion every other weekend & holidays & summer & also lives here in Oregon. He does pay child support.I am seeking the question,I found somebody I love & want to be with in another state.I want to know can I legally up & move my kids & I to Michigan, without any legal binding law that says I can`t due to visitation from their dad. The only degree in our vistation/custody paper was that I am suppose to notify him 10 days in advance if moving,as to provide new address.

Re: The right to move out of state

You should notify your ex in writing at least ten days before you move so that you can cooperatively work out a revision of the visitation schedule, including air fare, etc. This assumes that the 2 children want to make the move because the court may consider their wishes and how much depends upon all of the circumstances and what is in the best interests of the children and your ex's wishes, moving in the middle of the school year, etc.
