Legal Question in Family Law in Oregon

I moved from California to Oregon and have full physical custody of my 2 children. My ex lives in California and does not help me at all with the children. This year, after a long court battle, it was stipulated in our court order (for visitation this summer) that he will have the children half of the summer and "RECEIVING PARENT SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF ALL TRANSPORTATION RELATED TO

VISITATION". Well, to make a long story short, I have told my ex several times to buy airline tickets from a Eugene airport, as I am about an hour south of Eugene. Well, he didnt and bought tickets out of Portland just 2 weeks in advance. I have explained to him several times that Portland would be a round trip 10 hour drive for me and I cannot do that. He said he already bought the tickets and too bad. I looked on the jet blue website and they could have gotten their money back because they chose the wrong airport, but they didnt. I cannot get to Portland. And according to our court order, he is responsible for all transportation costs to get them there. What can I do now?

I assume you want the kids to visit their father. If that is true, then work with him. Find a shuttle service that can take the kids to Portland. Give father telephone number of shuttle and tell him to call and pay with credit/debit card. If he won't do this then don't take the kids to Portland and tell him this clearly. His legal recourse is to file a contempt motion. The court will hold a hearing and you can tell the judge what is going on. Depending on the judge, I think father would be told he has to pay for cost of all transportation. (You offered to take kids to Eugene at no cost to father, you did not offer to take kids to Portland.) Otherwise, father can fly up himself and come get the kids at your house.
