YOUR QUESTION:

ANSWER:

There is no Oregon law that requires you to live with your pareents. Although your parents are deemed viewed in the eyes of the law as being your legal custodians, they do not have the authority to force you to live in their home. However, if you move out and other adults then provide you with food, housing, support, etc., over the objection of your parents and without their consent, they may be liable to a criminal charge of Custodial Interference. Best advice if you are endangered by remaining in your parents' home: Contact Child Protective Services (or the police if necessary) and get help. Or seek refuge at a youth safe house. Or contact the Juvenile Rights Project in Portland at 503.232.2540. But in any event, don't try to take matters into your own hands.
