Legal Question in Family Law in Oregon

Ors.107.108 before & after 10/97

What is the difference in this ordinance before and after October 1997. My divorce was final in March of 97 and I'd like to know how the differences effect adult support for a child in college??

It would take far too long and serve little purpose to explain to you (at no cost) the differences between the version of ORS 107.108 that was in effect prior to 10/3/97 and the version of ORS 107.108 that was in effect after 10/3/97.

The reason why it would serve little purpose (other than as an interesting historical lesson as to legislative and bureaucratic bungling) is because all of the differences between the two versions was eliminated by yet another revision of the statute that took effect on Sept. 1, 2005 (which which continues to remain in effect). Section 13 of the 2005 revision (Or Laws 2005, ch 591), says:

"A support order that provides for the support or maintenance of a child attending school is subject to this section REGARDLESS OF WHEN THE SUPPORT ORDER WAS ENTERED."

So the version of ORS 107.108 that was in effect when your divorce became final in March, 1997, no longer controls your case. Rather, what now counts is the version of ORS 107.108 that is now in effect (and has been since 9/1/2005).
