personal property/family dispute

I moved out of my parents' house at 18, 2 years later I am still trying to get my box of childhood mementos from them. Is this legally my property or theirs? How can I get my things from them?

QUESTION #1:

Is this legally my property or theirs?

ANSWER:

As a matter of law, it is the property of your parents.

QUESTION #2:

How can I get my things from them?

ANSWER:

Be polite and respectful and ask them, nicely and without demanding, if they could see their way clear to let you retrieve the property.
