Power of attorney of a Chid

Can I put a childs 18th birthday down as the experation date on a power of attorney form when he is 6 years old now? If not What is the maximum time allowed for the experation of the form?

I assume you are referring to a power of attorney by which you delegate your parental authority to some other adult.

You can delegate to another adult the authority to maintain custody of your child and to give consent to medical treatment for the child, doing so for a maximum period of six months, through a properly executed power of attorney. And it may then be repeatedly renewed for successive six-month terms.

Your parental authority over the child ends when the child becomes an adult, at age 18. Any power of attorney existing at that time involving a delegation of parental authority would necessarily also end at age 18.
