is it over if you didnt get your responds in and you lost

i need to know if theres anything i can still do to see a judge about getting my son back.i didnt get my responds in .intime and i have learning disabilities ,so i didnt know i had to call them about filing fee waiver and i had to pay $5.00 and it was to let so my sons dad daid i didnt respond so i lost custody of my son.can i do anything or is it done i lost.my son is living with 9 other kids in the home i only have me and my daughter and grandson .my son has always lived with me he didnt get a chance either

You should contact the local bar association and ask about free legal assistance. If that is not available then ask about a referral to an attorney that charges a lower fee.
