Legal Question in Family Law in Oregon

Seperate bills

He is on SSI and is signing contracts to give services such as phone and cable to friends. I am working full time. Can the court come back and say I have to pay these bills since we are married even though I did not approve them, sign them, or benefit from having them?

YOUR QUESTION:

ANSWER:

Yes, the court could do so in the context of a divorce proceeding. But assuming you and spouse are no longer living together when these obligtions were incurred, more likely than not the court will not assign any payment liability to you.
