Legal Question in Family Law in Oregon
Small claims
I have been divorced almost two years, in the divorce decree it was ordered my ex pay off his truck and keep and I do the same with my car, both of our names are on each title with the Credit Union. 3 weeks after divorce papers were filed, he got his truck repossessed. It got sold, and the remaining balance with credit collectors was 3748.00. I am the only one with a job, single mother of one, so they came after me to pay off the remaining balance which has been very hard considering he refuses to pay child support, and is working under the table, I have paid the truck off, still continuing to pay off my car. The only reaon I paid it off was to save my credit, they were going to garnish 25% of my wages so I set up monthly payments. Now that it is paid off can I sew him, I heard i could sue for half of the balance, can I sue for my car also, or what was left owed on it when we seperated? He owe's 7,000 in child support, I know he'll never pay anything before that but how to I get my money back. It is not fair what he has done, I work so hard to support my child and he does nothing. I cannot pay for a lawyer, and I was so fair in the divorce decree, but he still chooses not to see his child. Pleas help!

Re: Small claims
Whenever one party to a judgment is not complying with that judgment, the other party may file to hold the non-complying party in contempt of court. I would suggest that you contact an attorney to discuss your rights.
