Stopping guardianship and returning child to a parent
My husband is a potential father of a 12yo girl, her mother is in and out of her life, and apparently the great-grandma has guardianship of her. The great-grandma's health is worsening and we want to know how good are chances are of getting his daughter. We havent done paternity basically because i guess we dont really want to find out if she is not his. She has been a part of our life off and on since she was about 1yo, the mother has always told her my husband is her father, but great grandma told her there is another possible father, to which the now 12yo said she didnt care, that (my husband) is her dad. She has stated numerous times she wants to live with us, the great grandma lets unsafe people around her, their house is always dirty, etc. Please help!

Go to Rite-Aid and for $29.99 purchase the do-it-yourself DNA paternity test kit. Comes with all the instructions need. It uses a "buccal swab" (kinda like a popsicle stick)rubbed up an down inside the mouth, against the inner cheek. Totally painless. Quick and simple. No blood involved. One "dipstick" from child, one from tested man. The little sticks are then sent to the lab (in Salt Lake City) along with a $125 (I think) lab fee. All do-it-yourself and private. No court order needed. And you then get the results back from the testing lab in a couple of weeks. Once you get the test result back, you can then decide what you then want to do.
