Legal Question in Family Law in Oregon

Hello my name is Susan , I have a friend that is from Oregon and moved to Ohio seperated from her husband she left her kids with him and now she wants custody but she doesnt know what state to file for custody in. Can you please help?? I will pass on the info if you could point me in the right direction to tell her.

Oregon continues to be the children's "home state" under UCCJEA. So she has to file in Oregon. Given the facts you are presenting, Ohio has no jurisdictional authority over the custody issue simply because the mother (without the kids) has chosen to live in that state.
