Legal Question in Family Law in Oregon

Can a teen decide to end visitation with non-custodial parent?

My boyfriend's fourteen year old daughter becomes terrified when it is time to visit her mother on the weekends. She returns to her father's home on Sunday and becomes increasingly more anxious and distressed as the weekend approaches. She believes her mother is mentally unstable/ boarderline abusive. Of this we have inconsequential proof. Can she legally decide not to visit there anymore? What are her mother's legal rights verses her's? Her dad and I want to protect her as best as we can.

A minor child cannot make decisions regarding visitation. Your boyfriend could be exposing himself to a potential situation in which he would be held in contempt of court if he does not insist on his daughter continuing with visitation as ordered by the court. Your boyfriend can petition the court for a custody and/or parenting time modification.
