Legal Question in Family Law in Oregon
wanting to move with my child..
Me and my childs father are not together and have never been married. I live with my parents who are moving to texas. Can he stop us from moving by taking us to court or something like that? If hes paying child support does it stop cause we moved? My son isnt even born yet but he is already threatning a lawyer. We are probably moving sometime within this year.

Re: wanting to move with my child..
QUESTION: Me and my childs father are not together and have never been married. I live with my parents who are moving to texas. Can he stop us from moving by taking us to court or something like that?
ANSWER: Yes, it is possible. But not until after the baby is born, and after he has been declared and established as the child's legal father through one of the statutorialy prescribed legal methods for doing so. If and when all of that occurs, he would then be in a position to seek a court order restraining you from relocating the child to a location away from Oregon. But it would still be difficult of him to get such an order, particulary when the child is a newborn and there does not already exist any "bonding" between the father and the child. (Also, if you have already made the move by the time he seeks to stop you from doing so, it will be too late for him to do anything about it.)
QUESTION: If hes paying child support does it stop cause we moved?
ANSWER: NO. A court order requiring him to pay child support continues to exist regardless of where you are living.
