Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Oregon

My former boyfriend was incarcerated and asked me to loan him bail money. Himself and his father separately agreed to repay the full amount of $1080.00. Now they are saying that I don't have a contract and are refusing to repay this loan. Are they jointly and severally liable for the debt? Can I sue them with only a verbal contract?

Nice guy, that former boyfriend of yours. WHY you would be willing to put up bail money for a FORMER boyfriend is beyond my understanding. Nonetheless, you did it, as a loan. What does your fomer boyfriend think? That you intended this as a gift?? The former boyfriend and his dad sound like a couple of real jerks. YES, you should take 'em to court. Small Claims Court. A VERBAL contract IS enforceable. And they are jointly and serverally liable for the debt.
