Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Oregon
My roommates and I just do not get along anymore, I know that is not cause to break a lease. Today she threatened me saying I am going to create more problems for myself, as well as threating to break down my bedroom door. I asked them if they knew anyone to sign over my portion of the lease to they do not want to do that. The landlord is okay with it, but she does not know that his girlfriend is there she is not on the lease. There are children involved. She is supposed to be babysitting because she does not have a job. I installed a lock on my door because she kept stealing my stuff. Have documented proof of everthing, even their living habit, they never cleaning and I came home to maggots all over the house, they refused to clean it so I did because my daughter was there. I just want out is there any way legally I can get out and just cut my loses.

Take photos of the problems, like the mess and the maggots. Find another place to live and move there. Stop paying rent on the bad place. Send the landlord and the other tenants a letter stating that you left because of the mess and the threats and the stealing. If anyone ever sues you for not paying rent, your defense is that the place became uninhabitable and dangerous, due to the threats and stealing.
