Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Oregon

Small claims court appearance requirements

My wife and I filed a claim against our former landlord for failure to repay our deposit. We are both listed as plaintiffs, and our landlord is the defendant. This was filed in Multnomah County.

Do both my wife and I need to appear at the hearing, or can I go alone?

For my wife to take a day off from work would literally cost us money (to pay for her replacement), and using the ''phone in'' option is not possible due to the nature of her job. I called the courthouse with this question, but they would not answer because they aren't allowed to give legal advice. I would really appreciate any help you can provide.

Re: Small claims court appearance requirements

There is no legal requirement that both of you attend the hearing.
