Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Oregon
small claims $5000.00 & up
My question pertains to the Oregon Law(s) that govern small claims court and or procedures. Is it possible to pursue a debt owed on a loan for personal property that exceeds the amount of $5000.00, in small claims court, in the state of Oregon? If this amount does exceed the upper limitations, what other options are there on a matter such as this?

Re: small claims $5000.00 & up
The limit for small claims court in Oregon is $5,000. If the debt owing is greater than that, you have two choices: (1) reduce your claim on the debt to $5,000 and pursue it in small claims court or (2) pursue it in the circuit court, possibly hiring an attorney to assist you in the claim.
