Legal Question in Immigration Law in Oregon

green card applications birth certificate requirement

For green card applications one needs to provide with the birth certificate. In some cases birth certificates might not be available. What other options does one have in order to fulfill the birth certificate requirement. Can the parents sign an affidavit stating that their child was born on a certain date and place?

Thanks!

Re: green card applications birth certificate requirement

There are certainly options for when a birth certificate is not available (esp. for countries that did not offer a birth certificate at your time of birth). You may contact our office and we can see what you can put together in lieu of a birth certificate. (732) 985-1310

When birth certificate is not available, just use affidavit from parents is not enough. Other government record can be used instead. Please contact my office (503)626-7051 if you want to discuss further about your case.
