Legal Question in Immigration Law in Oregon

Grown Child of Illegal Aliens

Parents crossed illegal from Mexico 1982

He was brought here to join them 1989 illegally

He grew up here continuous

Met my daughter (us citizen born and raised) in 1998

A son was born 2000

Alien committed an assault/received probation

Alien was in possession of a gun/was court mandated to a faith-based 2 year rehabilitation program

Married daughter 11/02

Completed Rehab VERY SUCCESSFULLY

Another son is born 1/04

I want to know why everyone says he will be deported because of the way he arrived when he was child at the time!

How could he be held responsible for that? He is 23 now and wants to fly right. There must be a loop hole for grown children of illegal aliens. He did not complete high school.

Thank you

Re: Grown Child of Illegal Aliens

Since he is married to a US citizen and have US citizen kids, there are some options for him to fix his immigration status. His criminal history may make things a little complicated, though. Please let him bring a copy of the conviction and see an immigration attorney.

There may be little that can be done at this time. You will want to take the time to fully explore the situation with an immigration attorney. At this time there in not a way for aliens who entered without authorization to adjust their status within the US. I strongly suggest you contact your representatives and request that the laws be changed. His past criminal convictions may prove highly problematic as well.

I wish you and your family well.
