Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Oregon
Drawings
I purchased 4 pen and ink drawings from a non professional in 1976. The artist died several years ago. Can I copy and sell these drawings? The artist never formally had any of his work copywritten and the is no copywrite symbol on the works.

Re: Drawings
The artist has copyrights immediately upon creating the work. Filing for copyright protection is another matter. But if these drawings were made specifically for you, then they would be works for hire and you would own all rights to them and could copy them to your hearts content.
