bad checks
I work at a tavern where they accept personal checks as payment one of them bounced and they are making me pay for it

An employer is not permitted to withhold from an employee's pay for things like breakage or bad checks. Doing so means you have not been paid all your wages due. An Oregon statute permits you to recover those wages, plus attorneys fees for doing so. If you leave employment while wages remain unpaid, you can be entitled to penalties. Consult an experienced employment lawyer for guidance.
