Legal Question in Employment Law in Oregon
Wrongful termination
I was terminated today because my boss told me that I was not reliable coming to work. I has Multiple Scelorsis and he was fully aware of this. He knew that I had been having problems with it and he said that he understood and would work with me. In fact, just 3 weeks prior to terminating me, I received a raise because he was very happy with my work. Do I have a legal right to persure this?
1 Answer from Attorneys
Americans with Disabilities Act
I am not licensed to practice law in your state but I can get you some general advice. The Americans with Disabilities Act requires that your employer make reasonable accommodation. This usually means that you can do the job hired to do with assistance. Sometimes this can mean varied hours but not if it affects the job you were hired to do.You should contact an attorney in your area. The law provides for attorney fees if you win your case. If you cannot find an attorney, contact the nearest American Civil Liberties Union, Legal Aid, Labor Department or Lawyer Referral Service for help. You situation definitely merits further investigation. Good Luck.
