Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Oregon
My fiance and i have been living with my mother for two months now. She has demanded us to move out in a month. We have 3 children 16 and under. Can she do this? She has given no reason why. Both my fiance and myself are recently jobless. We live off child support and gifts from a relative. We also support all costs of the home we are sharing with my mother.

Yes, she can. Oregon allows a landlord (your mother) to ask a tenant (you and your family) to move with 30 days notice. (This changes in January 2010 for tenants who have resided int he property for over a year, that will require 60 days notice). It appears she has given you a 30 day notice to move. She does not need to give a reason to ask you to leave. Your mother does not owe you, your fiance or your kids support of any kind. She is entitled to determine who, if anyone, she shares her home with.
