Re: my doctor played god

A "shark" won't help you if you were not damaged as a result of the doctor's actions. Did you end up incurring some permanent or serious damage because you didn't know you were diabetic? If so, you do indeed need a skilled, assertive med mal lawyer. I'd refer you to several people in Portland, including Jon Friedman, Dennis Skarstad, and Larry Wobbrock. Please note that there is a TWO-YEAR statute of limitations in Oregon. If you haven't filed a lawsuit within two years of the date of the negligence or from the date when you discoverd or reasonably should have discovered it, then you MAY be barred from bringing a claim beyond that date. Oh, and the other option you have is to lodge an ethical complaint with the governing body for doctors, the Board of Medical Examiners. That ordinarily won't get you any damages, and I wouldn't do it unless you decide not to make a civil claim. Best of luck to you.
