You should go to a lawyer's office and explain your particular fact situation, as to WHY you think you may have a medical malpractice claim. Virtually every lawyer who practices in this area gives free initial consultations, if merited, and they will usually handle the case on a contingency fee arrangement.

Very broadly, you have to be able to show, on a more-likely-than-not basis, that the treatment of the medical professional fell below the standard of care for similar professionals in similar communities. That's really not a sufficient guideline for you to make any decision about a potential case, so I would again urge you to speak in person to a lawyer who handles plaintiff's medical malpractice claims.
