Legal Question in Military Law in Oregon
desertion from the coast gurad
my husband is going awol , and we don't plan on going back to his station. What can we expect to happen? Will they come after him? he is just a cook in a small boat station. Will they just put out a warrant for his arrest?

They will not come after him. But they will put out an electronic "person wanted by the armed forces" type of notice to law enforcement agencies nationwide after he's been gone for 30 days. If he has any encounter with a law enforcement officer where his license is checked, he will be put in handcuffs and taken back to the police station to await transportation to a base for prosecution. They do not forget and chances are there will come a judgment day. Better course of action is NOT to go AWOL.
